I have a black-white tuxedo cat named OLIVE. I found kittens on my porch. I called a TNR worker to rescue them and return the black ‘n’ white kitten to me as soon as it was fixed. She named it OLIVE. I learned to like this name as I look into “her OLIVE eyes and touch her “Olive nose” which is black. I put a red collar on her to play up her name. I studied the name OLIVE and learned that it symbolizes love and peace. Olive Oyl is a cartoon character who is wearing a red dress. Olive oil can be light green or yellow. I’ve seen that dogs also get the name Olive and it’s a nice name regardless of he color of he cat’s fur. I saw a black cat named SOOT. Why would a person name a pet Soot when it’s dirt? Maybe it came from a story book about soot.

Olive is a very nice name 🙂 I think it suits black cats with green eyes very well.

I never thought about the name Soot being perceived negative since it means dirt. I kind of like the name Soot. There are also those cute anime characters named Sootballs.

I have 3 for you: Foxy, Salt and Solo. The stories are: Foxy got his name because he had very large ears as a kitten and hr reminded me of a baby fox; Salt comes fro a movie with Peter Lawford and Sammy Davis, Jr. where Lawford is Mr. Pepper and Sammy is Mr. Salt; finally, Solo was the sole black kitten given to us by her black mother, Velvet. Hence the name Solo.
